Public computer recycling is free... forever

However, certain items require a little more labor, space, transportation, or third-party processing and may have fees.*

TVs

These small fees help cover the added labor required for safe handling, as well as third-party disposal fees for the extra plastics involved. When a TV is still functional, the fee may also help cover storage and handling while we work to keep it in use rather than sending it directly to recycling.

Computer Displays

Just as with TVs, these small fees help cover the added labor required to process broken displays. When a screen is still in good working condition, the fee may also help cover storage and handling while we try to find someone in the community who can use it, keeping it in service rather than sending it directly to recycling.

Printers & Copiers

Printers and copiers often require extra time to disassemble, include components that aren’t recyclable, and may contain toner that needs special handling for safety. The small fee helps cover this added labor, safe handling, and proper downstream processing.

Batteries

Batteries require extra care due to fire risk, regulatory requirements, and the need for proper downstream recycling. The small recycling fee helps cover safe handling, upstream recycling costs, and compliant disposal. Battery leads should be taped with clear packing tape in advance to reduce the risk of accidental fire. If not taped, a 50¢ per-battery charge may apply. (Or just ask us to borrow some tape.)
