Drop-off and accepted electronics
What electronics does Dispo.tech accept?
Dispo.tech accepts most consumer and business electronics, including desktop computers, laptops, servers, phones, tablets, televisions, printers, networking equipment, cables, batteries, audio equipment, and many other electronic devices. Check our accepted electronics list, or contact us if your item is not shown.
Does Dispo.tech accept televisions and computer monitors?
Yes. We accept flatscreen televisions and monitors, as well as many older display types.
Does Dispo.tech accept batteries?
We accept lead-acid batteries for free. However, our battery processing partners recently informed us that the costs to process lithium-ion, nickel-cadmium, nickel-metal hydride, and alkaline batteries would be increasing significantly, so a small handling fee may apply. We’re working to establish a new recycling partnership that may allow us to accept these batteries without a fee again. Please contact us for current pricing before drop-off.
Are there electronics Dispo.tech cannot accept?
Yes. We don’t accept smoke detectors, air conditioners, refrigerators, freezers, or equipment that still contains liquids. This includes most electric motors, string trimmers, and dehumidifiers. Acceptance can also depend on an item’s size, condition, battery type, and available recycling options.
Please ask before bringing an unusual or industrial item.
Costs and recycling fees
Is electronics recycling free?
Most computers, phones, cables, and common electronics are accepted free. Certain items, including some batteries, large printers, office copiers, and equipment requiring special handling, may have a recycling fee. See our current recycling fees or contact us before drop-off.
Why do some electronics have a recycling fee?
Some devices cost more to transport, disassemble, store, or send to a specialized downstream recycler than the recovered materials are worth. The fee helps cover those additional processing and safety costs while keeping the item out of the landfill.
Pickup and service area
Does Dispo.tech provide free business electronics pickup?
Yes. Business electronics pickup is free within Warren County. Outside Warren County, a mileage fee may apply depending on the distance, volume, and type of equipment being collected. We may waive the fee when the value and quantity of equipment make the trip practical. Any applicable charge will be confirmed before the pickup is scheduled.
Can Dispo.tech pick up electronics from my home?
Yes. Residential pickup may be available within the Bowling Green city limits. There is no set pickup fee, but tips are appreciated to help cover the time and transportation involved. Outside the city limits, a pickup fee may apply, plus round-trip mileage at $0.75 per mile. Availability depends on the location, scheduling, and the number and type of items being collected.
What areas does Dispo.tech serve?
Our public drop-off location is in Bowling Green, and Warren County is our primary free-pickup area. For larger business pickups, data center decommissions, and technology transitions, we are available to help with projects throughout Kentucky, Tennesee, Missouri, Indiana, and Illinois.
Can I schedule a drop-off outside regular hours?
In some cases, yes. If Tuesday through Saturday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm does not work for you, submit a drop-off scheduling request and we will let you know what can be arranged.
Data security and reuse
What happens to the data on a recycled computer?
Dispo.tech treats storage devices as though sensitive information may still be present. Depending on the service selected and whether the media is reusable, data may be cleared, securely erased using a NIST 800-88-aligned method, or made unrecoverable through physical destruction.
Can Dispo.tech physically destroy hard drives?
Yes. We can physically destroy hard drives and other storage media. Physical destruction is free for storage media removed from devices designated for recycling. Fees may apply to loose media or when destruction and documentation are the primary services requested.
Do you provide certificates of data destruction?
Yes. When documentation is requested as part of a data-destruction service, Dispo.tech can provide a certificate listing the device or media type, identifying information such as serial numbers when available, quantity, and destruction or erasure method.
Are recycled electronics always destroyed?
No. The best recycling starts with reuse. When equipment or components can be safely refurbished, repaired, or reused, extending their useful life is usually preferable. Items that cannot be reused are disassembled and processed through appropriate recycling channels.
